Argireline, with the chemical formula C34H60N14O12S, has the CAS number 616204-22-9. It is a peptide compound used in skincare products. Argireline appears as a white powder with no distinct odor. Its basic structure consists of a chain of amino acids, including arginine. This compound is soluble in water and has a molecular weight of 888.99 g/mol. Safety information regarding Argireline is limited, but it is generally considered safe for topical use in skincare products.
Applicable Fields
Skincare: Argireline is primarily used in skincare products, particularly in anti-aging formulations. Its purpose in this field involves its ability to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. The mechanism of action of Argireline is based on its ability to inhibit the formation of certain neurotransmitters, which helps to relax facial muscles and reduce the depth of wrinkles.
Storage
Conditions: Store in a cool and dry place.
Argireline (CAS NO.616204-22-9) is a synthetic anti-aging cosmetic ingredient derived from natural proteins. It is a peptide, a chain made up of amino acids. Argireline is the hexapeptide with the sequence Ac-Glu-Glu-Met-Gln-Arg-Arg-NH2.
The incubation of Argireline solution in different concentrations with human embryonic kidney HEK-293 (IC 50 of 34.862 μM) and neuroblastoma IMR-32 cells (IC 50 of 68.458 μM)) for 48 h have dose dependent antiproliferative effect. Argireline solution incubated in different concentrations with HSF has a dose-dependent antiproliferative effect on those cells. Cellular proliferation is not effected in Argireline low concentration.
Argireline is applied to the aged mice twice daily for 6 weeks. There is an improvement in the histological structure of skin tissue in the aged mice; the amount of type I collagen fibers increased, while that of type III collagen fibers decreased. Argireline could improve the histological structure of skin tissue and rejuvenate the aging skin.
Argireline is made up of chains of amino acids. Such chains can affect how our cells work, e.g. relaxing our face muscles. It is derived from the peptide Acetyl hexapeptide-3, a substrate of Botulinum toxin, or more commonly known as Botox.
Botox is a common, anti-wrinkle treatment which is applied using a needle. You may achieve the same anti-aging results with products which contain Argireline. Argireline can help prevent the formation of wrinkles by inhibiting muscle movement in the face. Because of this, Argireline cream is sometimes known as “Botox in a jar.”
